Where do the Google Search Box Drawings Come From

Have you ever wondered where the Google search box art work is designed? Here is a great video explaining where some of the drawings come from. The pictures are referred to as “Google Doodle.” In this video there were twenty eight thousand doodles submitted and six million votes that helped narrow the results down to four national finalists and then finally to the winner. The forty award winning regional finalists were able to have their pictures (drawings) displayed in a national museum, the Smithsonian Institute. The theme for this event was “What I Wish for the World.”

Bad Links Do Not Affect Your Ranking

I recently discovered that someone posted a link pointing to one of my websites that would be considered to be a bad link. I got really concerned that it would affect the ranking of my site with Google. After doing some research, I found several posts that support one another on this issue. Google answered the question well in one of their forum posts.

The basic idea is that if bad back-links pointing to your website pages had an affect on your ranking, then your competitors could sabotage your position in the search engine results by creating these forms of evil site backlinks.
